ABOUT
ABOUT ME

My name is Penelope (Penny) Perkins and I have a custom bridal gown business located in Salt Lake City, Utah. I would love to be part of your special day. I have created custom bridal gowns for over 40 years.

I started designing and sewing as a child. I studied clothing and textiles at the University of Utah.  In 1975, I discovered my passion for bridal design. Since then, I have created hundreds of beautiful wedding dresses.  I would love to create a one-of-a-kind expression of your vision.

My gowns are created from the finest silk fabrics and French lace.  The styles vary from simple classic designs to dramatic and intricate styles.  Every design is tailored to the individual brides taste and style. I have created many gowns for the LDS bride who desires a modest gown with a high fashion flair.

If you are trying to decide if a custom creation is right for you, please feel free to contact me for a visit and we can discuss all the endless possibilities for your special day.

THE PROCESS

Your wedding gown is one of the most exciting details of your wedding.  Having a custom made gown will be unique to your individual style and create a one-of-kind expression of who you are.

In the initial consultation, we can discuss what you want and begin creating the gown that will showcase your personal style and taste.  It is important to take into account your personality and type of ceremony. Having a custom made gown using couture techniques and beautiful fabric will make a beautiful expression of your personality on this most important day.

Then we begin selecting fabric, trims and/or lace.   I prefer to use silk and other natural fibers because of their amazing hand and textures. Fine fabrics will make your gown feel and flow beautifully.  I use only the finest French Chantilly and re-embroidered laces.

Most often we do three fittings depending on the style of your dress, your location and availability.

Cost can vary widely depending on complexity of style and fabric selection. Dresses begin at $1,300 and go up from there.  Most of the gowns range in the $1,400  to $2,000 price range. The price includes all labor, fabrics and notions to create a couture custom fitted gown.  A full cost estimate will be provided up front and agreed to before any work begins.
